The fire and rescue services of the City of Bonn ensure safety with around 350 employees, around 500 volunteer firefighters and the emergency services of the integrated aid organizations in three fire stations and one rescue station as well as at 18 volunteer fire department locations.
As a fire trainee, you will work as a department head at the professional fire department after completing your training. You will also work 24-hour shifts as a civil servant in the operational command service and be in overall charge of emergency response in Bonn.
During your training, you will complete various courses in addition to your work at the City of Bonn's fire department, as well as various training phases at fire departments throughout Germany and at administrative departments. You will learn to take on management responsibility and to plan and lead operations.
You will complete your training with the City of Bonn as a fire officer trainee in career group 2, second entry level, in the form of a preparatory service. You will be employed as a civil servant on revocation and will complete your training with the career examination.
The training lasts 24 months.
Recruitment requirements:
- As a rule, maximum age of 40 years at the time of recruitment (§ 14 LBG NRW, here you will also find the exceptions)
- Citizenship of a member state of the European Union (§ 7 Para. 1 BeamtStG)
- a completed technical or scientific degree at a university, a technical or other equivalent university or a completed Master's degree at a university of applied sciences that has undergone an accreditation procedure as an admission requirement for the higher civil service
- Health suitability (examinations will be arranged accordingly)
- Unrestricted physical fitness for the fire department
- Willingness to relocate to the City of Bonn at the latest upon completion of training
Payment:
During your traineeship, you will receive a salary of around 1,600 euros. You will also receive capital-forming benefits.
You are entitled to 30 vacation days per calendar year.
