Specialist for swimming pool operations

The training is carried out at the City of Bonn's Sports and Baths Department. As a pool attendant, you will be employed in indoor and outdoor pools. You will supervise bathers, recognize emergencies and know how to deal with them in order to save lives in an emergency.

During your training, you will first learn different swimming techniques and styles and will then be trained as a swimming instructor. You will also be familiarized with the technical systems of a pool and how they work and are maintained. Your tasks will also include monitoring water quality and organizing operating procedures.

You will be supported by qualified trainers during your training in this profession. However, you should bring a few things with you: A certain level of fitness, an interest in chemistry, organizational skills and social skills are essential. You should also enjoy technology, customer service and, of course, swimming in particular.

Vocational school lessons take place twice a week at the Humboldtstraße vocational college in Cologne.

Training with the City of Bonn begins on August 1 of each year and lasts three years. Under certain conditions (previous education, performance), the training period can be shortened on application.

Recruitment requirements:

  • Secondary school certificate after completing compulsory full-time schooling

Payment:

Depending on the year of training, you will receive the following monthly gross training allowance:

  1. Year of training: 1,218.26 euros
  2. Year of training: 1,268.20 euros
  3. Year of training: 1,314.02 euros

You will also receive capital-forming benefits and a special annual payment. You will also receive a learning materials allowance of 50.00 euros in each year of training. If you pass the final examination on your first attempt, you will also receive a final bonus of 400.00 euros.

You are entitled to 30 vacation days per calendar year.
