Training to become an emergency paramedic
In the event of an accident or serious illness, many people are helpless and do not know what to do. Emergency paramedics can save lives and maintain health. He*she is the savior in an emergency!
As an emergency paramedic, you are usually the first person to see a patient. You make immediate decisions about immediate measures, provide first aid and decide whether to call a doctor. Your tasks also include caring for and accompanying patients.
The training lasts three years and concludes with a state examination. If you wish to continue working for the City of Bonn, you have the opportunity to learn the profession of fire officer in a combined training course after completing your training as an emergency paramedic.
Training to become a fire chief
There's a fire, the water won't stop running, rescue workers can't reach a casualty because access to them is blocked or there's an accident at a plant - this is where people with special skills are needed.

During their training, fire chiefs learn the theoretical basics of operational planning and tactics as well as the legal foundations of the fire department. They take on tasks in fire protection, assistance and rescue services and train in the use of appropriate equipment and emergency vehicles as well as extinguishing and breathing apparatus.
Training to become a fire officer at the City of Bonn takes 18 months. The combined training gives you the opportunity to become a fire chief in various ways.
The recruitment requirements include a journeyman's examination in a skilled trade or a correspondingly beneficial completed vocational training (e.g. emergency paramedic, paramedic).
As an emergency paramedic with training at the City of Bonn, you have the advantage of learning the profession of fire officer in a subsequent 15-month fire department training course.
You will complete the training to become a fire officer in career group 1, second entry level, in the form of a preparatory service. You will be employed as a civil servant on revocation and will complete your training with the career examination.

Emergency paramedics assess the state of health of sick, injured or needy people in medical emergencies, decide whether a doctor needs to be called and arrange for this if necessary. Until the doctor arrives or the patient is transported, they provide initial medical care and, if necessary, take immediate life-saving measures.
