The forest needs strong nature lovers.
Forester
Do you feel at home outdoors and can't imagine anything more exciting than making nature your workplace? Are you looking forward to a varied working day in which no two days are the same? Nature conservation plays a major role for you, whether it's plants or wildlife?
Then training as a forester is ideal for you!
You can expect not only numerous interesting tasks from timber harvesting to nature conservation measures, but also a varied field of work: you will be responsible for looking after and maintaining 610 hectares of municipal forest and 142 hectares of green and biotope areas. Every green space and every wild animal needs the right care. It goes without saying that this corresponds to the latest nature conservation standards.
After completing your training with the City of Bonn, you will work, for example, in municipal forestry operations, in gardening and landscaping or as an arborist. There are also opportunities for various further training courses.

Implementation of planting
The maintenance of forest and green areas also includes the planting of urban green spaces. During your training, you will not only learn the basics but also gain an insight into modern forestry techniques.
Care of the game enclosure
Not only plants are among your charges. In addition to the municipal forest and the municipal green and biotope areas, as a forest warden you also look after the municipal game reserve on the Waldau.
Timber harvesting
Every year, the city of Bonn's foresters harvest around 2,300 cubic meters of wood. With the large quantities, the marketing of the raw material wood is therefore also part of the timber harvest. The wood then ends up with regional sawmills and private firewood customers.
Marking the trees
There are more than 40 tree species in the Bonn city forest alone. Marking the trees is therefore essential for regular monitoring of the forest and green areas.
Resource and project planning
Another activity that will add variety to your day-to-day work is resource and project planning. For example, you will be responsible for the construction, monitoring and maintenance of Bonn's local recreation areas.
Work on forest machines
During your training, you will learn the basics of handling the necessary machines and equipment as well as the associated protective equipment. Your tasks will also include the maintenance and care of the machines.
