The fire and rescue services of the City of Bonn ensure safety with around 350 employees, around 500 volunteer firefighters and the emergency services of the integrated aid organizations in three fire stations and one rescue station as well as at 18 volunteer fire department locations.
As a fire officer candidate, you will take on tasks in fire protection, emergency services and rescue services. During your training with the City of Bonn, you will get to know the various machines and emergency vehicles as well as firefighting and breathing apparatus. You will be shown the necessary behavior in emergency situations and simulated operations. You will also learn theoretical principles such as operational planning and tactics, as well as the legal foundations of the fire department.
You will complete your training as a fire officer candidate in career group 1, second entry level, in the form of a preparatory service. You will be employed as a civil servant on revocation and complete your training with the career examination.
The training lasts 15 or 18 months, depending on your professional qualifications.
Recruitment requirements:
- As a rule, maximum age of 40.5 years at the time of recruitment (§ 14 LBG NRW, here you will also find the exceptions)
- Citizenship of a member state of the European Union (§ 7 Para. 1 BeamtStG)
- Secondary school leaving certificate or a level of education recognized as equivalent
- Journeyman's examination in a trade suitable for the fire department or a correspondingly beneficial completed vocational training (e.g. emergency paramedic, paramedic)
- Class B driving license
- German swimming badge "silver" (no youth swimming badge, proof at the latest for the recruitment test)
- Health suitability (examinations will be arranged accordingly)
- Unrestricted physical fitness for the fire department
Payment:
During your traineeship, you will be paid a trainee's salary and a special trainee supplement of around 2,600 euros. You will also receive capital-forming benefits.
You are entitled to 30 vacation days per calendar year.
