Personnel development
What's next? Our personnel development.
We see the potential in our employees. And we support them. With training, further education and personnel development. Knowledge and expertise are essential guarantees of success. But we also train the ability to adapt to new things, to have courage and to think in new ways. In 2018, the city carried out 6,670 training and development measures, 35 percent more than in 2016.
Equal opportunities
Performance counts. And nothing else.
Equal opportunities for women and men - unfortunately, this is still not part of everyday life. We are committed to gender mainstreaming. This means that we take great care to ensure that both men and women are represented in all areas of work - at all hierarchical levels. In this way, we have been promoting equal opportunities between women and men within the city administration for many years. And we are making great strides forward. The design and staffing of the departments is gender-neutral. Equal opportunities and equal treatment requirements are not theoretical for us, but are implemented and lived. Right up to management level. Over 47 percent of management positions are held by women. And the trend is rising.
Since the beginning of 2022, the City of Bonn has been a member of the Klischeefrei initiative, which promotes a career and study choice free of gender stereotypes.
Work-life balance
When work and leisure time are in balance.
Balanced employees are better. We achieve this by ensuring a good balance between work and family or leisure time. Our approach: more flexibility for the individual. We have working time models that allow us to respond to almost any life situation: Part-time, full-time, teleworking, partial retirement, flexible working hours, sabbaticals, but also accompanied return to work. For example, 598 employees currently make use of the teleworking option. Around 30 percent of employees work part-time.
It is important to us that everyone who works for us finds their own individual working time model. So that life and work are in balance. Because only then will the city and its citizens benefit.
Leadership culture
Our supervisors are managers.
That is why we invest heavily in their training. Management development is not an individual measure, but an ongoing process. The social, professional, personal and methodological skills of managers determine the quality of work in terms of content and expertise, as well as a positive atmosphere and good cooperation between everyone in the administration.
Too much of a challenge? We will help you get there!
Conflict management
When one word leads to another. Our conflict management.
Cooperation stands and falls with communication. We use clear, fair and honest language. But we are also aware that cooperation does not always run smoothly. Our corporate culture is geared towards clarification rather than confrontation. We have an arbitration board for emergencies.
Company health management
Be healthy. Stay healthy. In our city.
This is the motto of our comprehensive company health management. Comprehensive because a demanding job also places demands on health. We want our employees to be healthy, fit and motivated. Because that's the only way to make work fun and ensure good performance. We do a lot to achieve this - from improving working conditions to targeted measures to promote health.
