Kitchen specialist

Specialist kitchen practitioner is a training occupation for people with disabilities. The training takes place at the City of Bonn in the canteen kitchen of the Robert-Wetzlar-Berufskolleg. Around 250 lunches are produced here every day. As a kitchen trainee, you will support the trained chefs in their work. During your training, you will learn about hygiene guidelines and implement them. You will carry out preparatory work in the kitchen and learn how to produce and finish meals. You will learn how various kitchen appliances and machines work and practise using them.

Vocational school lessons take place one day a week at the Robert-Wetzlar-Berufskolleg in Bonn.

Training with the City of Bonn begins on August 1 of each year and lasts three years.

Recruitment requirements:

  • Recognized disability or equal status. Whether all requirements are met will be checked on a case-by-case basis.
  • As this apprenticeship is not advertised, please apply for an internship as a kitchen specialist at  praktikumbonnde and indicate your desire for an apprenticeship in your application. The responsible trainer, Mr. Schwab, will decide whether to hire you as a trainee kitchen specialist.

Payment:

Depending on the year of training, you will receive the following monthly gross training allowance:

  1. Year of training: 1,068.26 euros
  2. Year of training: 1,118.20 euros
  3. Year of training: 1,164.02 euros

You will also receive capital-forming benefits and a special annual payment. You will also receive a learning materials allowance of 50.00 euros in each year of training. If you pass the final examination on your first attempt, you will also receive a final bonus of 400.00 euros.

You are entitled to 30 vacation days per calendar year.
